Commuter Diaries: The view coming into Downtown LA
I have been getting lazy with my commute to work this last month due to inclement (for Los Angeles at least) weather. However, today I realized how fortunate I am to have a job in these trying times, and also how lucky I am to have a relatively easy bicycle commute.

New bike lanes poppin’ up along York to Ave 55.
Now I have the option of taking York to Ave 50 when I go downtown, rather than taking Eagle Rock Blvd to Cypress. If I continue to have a job in January, I’ll probably utilize this route a lot more.
I rode the bike lane on Monday morning to work and later that night with Cyclones, and the bike lanes seem to be adequate. Of course there is parking alongside York, so cyclists must be wary of the door-zone, but I realize that all bike lanes will never inherently be perfect, but these particular bike lanes do bring more visibility and attention to riders and it is a step forward for cycling infrastructure in this city.
Next up this weekend, time to check out the newly unveiled Elysian Valley portion of the LA River Bike Path.
